15:00 Call to Order by President: President Tsuchihashi called the 148th regular meeting to order.   
          She announced that she would inform two events, Area 72 Joint Meeting and Area 72 Speech Contest, later.

15:03 Greeting by Toastmaster: TM Tomonaga greeted everyone present at the meeting.   She explained the change of program’s order: Formal Speech → Evaluation → Intermission → Table Topics Speech

           Word of the Day: Word Master: TM Y. Nagano: He chose the word ‘screw up’.

 Speaker 1: TM Hashimoto 
  (CC #7, Research Your Topic, 5-7 min)
             Title: Fake 
Though the word "fake" means bad impressions.  Fake art pieces of the Ostuka Museum of Art were amazing.  She was impressed.

 Speaker 2 TM Kitaoka      
 (AD #8, Communication on Television, The Press Conference, 3-5 min for speech, 2-3 min for Q&A)
             Title: Backdoor entry to school
He had a press conference apology.  He made a summary report about the unfair entrance decision to the medical school for specific students.  He also referred to causes and future improvements of the school.  
There were four questioners, TM S. Nagano, TM Tsuchihashi, TM Y. Nagano and TM Cooley, and then he answered individually.

During the session, TM S. Nagano had the participants make speeches on each topic.  The list of speakers and topics were as follows:
Speaker 1: TM Cooley- Do you have any glad news recently?
Speaker 2: TM Y. Nagano- What do you think of yourself after ten years?
Speaker 3: TM Tomonaga- If you can afford to stay in a foreign country for ten years, where would you like to go?
Speaker 4: TM Hayashi- Will you tell me about Okinawa?  After him, TM Ando, TM Kitaoka, TM Cooley, TM Kunisawa, TM Tomonaga, TM Tsuchihashi, TM Y. Nagano and TM Hashimoto gave speeches about Okinawa.
Speaker 5: TM Tsuchihashi- Do you have any plans after retirement? 
Speaker 6: TM Ando- Will you find three things in common with Danmitsu?  After her speech, some of the audiences found things for her.
Speaker 7: TM Kunisawa- What will you spend on if you win five hundred million yen in the public lottery?
Speaker 8: TM Kitaoka- What are Toastmasters Club activities worth for you?  After he finished his speech, some audiences asked him questions and he answered with all his heart.
Speaker 9: TM Hashimoto- How have you prepared for the future disasters?  
Speaker 10: TM Ando- What do you do when you are driving except for driving?   TM Kitaoka also answered the same question.
Speaker 11: TM Kunisawa- When did you look up the night sky last?
Speaker 12: TM Cooley- What do you eat for breakfast?

Officers’ Announcements conducted by President: 
President:- Area 72 Joint Meeting will be held on October 21 in Tokushima.  At least three members of our club are expected to go, one speaker, one evaluator, and one helper.  Area 72 Speech Contest will be held on March 17 in Matsuyama. 
VPE: “Sharing” will be moved to during intermission.

Speaker 4: TM Kitaoka- Why do Japanese people knock twice when they need to check the vacancy of a toilet room?

Speaker 6: TM Hashimoto- What were you most afraid of when you were a kid?

             Title: Money talks, is it true? 
She introduced herself talking about why she chose "Motivational Strategies" for pathways project.  Because she said that she needed her skills to achieve her goals at work.

 Speaker 2 TM Tomonaga
            (AD#8, Technical Presentation, Presenting a technical paper,10-12 min)
Exterminating cockroaches is her mission.  She tried some methods for killing them.  Finally, she could repel them from her house with the treats with dumplings mixed with boric acid.

(AD#31, High-Performance Leadership, Choosing Your Objectives, 5-6 min)
             Title: Let’s learn Kochi ~ Conducting an event~
Foreign tourists are increasing not only in Japan but also in Kochi.  
Grass-roots communications are taking an important role to support them.  She explained her plan to conduct a sightseeing tour with NIA(Nankoku City International Association) using My-Yu bus to entertain foreign students and workers in Kochi.

Officers’ Announcements conducted by President:
President gave out a written yearly schedule.  An outdoor meeting is planned.  Since COT#2 will be held in Kochi, we need to cooperate in hosting.

VPE explained Pathways and encouraged members to enroll (eight members have finished so far).  There are three choices to make until June 2020, current program, Pathways and both current program and Pathways.  Online Pathways seminars or their videos are helpful to know Pathways.  It is possible for you to apply for educational awards by June 2020.  Under Pathways, contest eligibility requires finishing level 2.  If you want to get paper manual, it is available, but the shipment is charged. 

VPM is making efforts to increase membership.  Guests are required to decide whether becoming a member or not after their second visit.

VPPR is planning to make a flier.

Secretary asked if the 146th regular meeting was approved and it was.  

SAA will come earlier and set the meeting room in a good condition every time and  she asked members for rearranging the room after meetings.

She will be leaving for Australia in two weeks.  She expressed her application to everyone and looked back on her days in Kochi.

As a long-time friend of Ai-chan's, she described(rousted)  her lovable life and character.
