15:00 Call to Order by President: President Tsuchihashi called the 149th regular meeting to order.  She was regretful about not having any guest.

15:03 Greeting by Toastmaster: TM Kitaoka greeted everyone present at the meeting.  He said that it was becoming cool and we could hear and enjoy the chirping of crickets at night.

           Word of the Day: Word Master: TM Tsuchihashi: She chose the word ‘simple’.

He referred to Naomi Osaka who captured First Grand Slam Title at 2018 US Open.  He said that he liked her positive thinking comments.

             Title: Blind men
Long time ago, Three blind men lived in the same village.
They din’t like each other. One day they encountered a huge elephant on the street in the village respectively.
One thought it was a big bat, because he touched its ear, then other two blind men thought it was a snake and a tree.They had different ideas. He thinks that he is as blind as the three blind men as he can’t picture the whole world. He let concern with other members of Toastmasters so that they can make a correct figure of a huge elephant.

             Title: No Pressure, No Progress 
There are 4 points to improve ourselves: to watch a good example, to have someone read our speeches, to challenge, to have a concrete goal.  Sometimes we feel pressure, but no pressure, no progress!

             Title: Unlearn
Unlearning means discarding something from one's memory, something learned, especially a bad habit or outdated information. Let’s unlearn and start anew with a new growth mind-set.

During the session, TM S. Nagano had the participants make speeches on each topic.  The list of speakers and topics were as follows:

Speaker 2: TM Nagasaki- Would you like microchip implantation between your thumb and forefinger to identify yourself?
Speaker 3: TM Kitaoka- Are you interested in genetic testing of yours?

Speaker 5: TM Y. Nagano- Do you have any unique daily routine?
Speaker 6: TM Tsuchihashi- What do you think of the film, 万引き家族?

Speaker 8: TM Adachi- What occasions do you show your leadership abilities?
Speaker 9: TM Tomonaga- What habit do you hate the most if you have?
Speaker 10: TM Shinomiya- What is the smartphone for you?
Speaker 11: TM Kitaoka - If you describe yourself with one word or one Chinese character, what is it?  He chose “謙”.  After him, everyone in the meeting described theirselves: TM Hayashi- normal, TM Ando- 迷, TM Tomonaga- 友, TM Shinomiya- about, TM Y. Nagano- void, TM Tsuchihashi- positive, TM Adachi- 追, TM Nagasaki- しん(新+進+心), and TM S. Nagano- 易

Address by Toastmaster

Officers’ Announcements conducted by President: 
President:- Area 72 Joint Meeting will be held on October 21 in Tokushima.  TM Tsuchihashi, TM Shinomiya and TM Y. Nagano will be there so far.  Our October meeting will be held at Baiseikan, Nankoku.  We will have a picnic lunch.  The contents of the meeting will be the same as usual.   We meet at Kochi Medical School parking lot and the attendees will go to Baiseikan in 2 or 3 cars.
